Interview
“What does moving smarter mean?”
Tino Steickert, Managing Director RFID Consortium
Mr. Steickert, your slogan is “move smarter”.
What do you move more intelligently?
Indirectly, we move many different things for our customers: from knives, forks and spoons to chairs, pavilions, laboratory chemicals, work clothing and raw materials.
We also move hotel linen, semi-finished and finished products, food, load carriers, C-parts, components, air filters for trucks and so much more…
And how do you move more intelligently?
Put simply, we tag objects with RFID transponders and track them using RFID readers.
Depending on the objective, our various RF KonSys modules are used, which we connect to our customers’ IT systems.
Why do you move smarter?
As a rule, our customers want to digitize and automate their processes.
They want to know their inventories precisely and reliably.
It is usually about digitally transforming paper-based work.
In logistics, they often want to eliminate incorrect deliveries, avoid nerve-wracking complaints and search times and, above all, keep delivery promises.
In manufacturing companies, on the other hand, C-parts, for example, need to be tracked during production and replenishment needs to be managed efficiently.
Some customers want to organize their material cycles smoothly.
Ultimately, the aim is always to reduce operating costs and increase process quality at the same time.
Every customer has a different motivation for working with us.
For whom do you move more intelligently?
Some of our customers produce cars, others develop pharmaceuticals or rent out furniture and equipment for events, while others offer cruises or supply filtration solutions.
How much do your customers move through you?
I can only estimate that.
Over the years, we have tagged well over 3-4 million objects with RFID transponders for our customers, and the trend is rising.
