LogiMAT 2026: RFID Consortium accelerates RFID projects with Smartmove

Published On: 27. January 2026By

Friedberg, 20 January 2026 – RFID Konsortium, a full-service solution provider for auto-ID and digitisation projects, is launching its new RFID integration and management platform Smartmove at LogiMAT 2026 in Hall 4, Stand 4D09. It was developed for use in production and logistics and is used in stationary RFID reading stations, RFID gates or RFID tunnels. With Smartmove, new RFID infrastructure can be quickly set up, integrated into advanced systems and managed. At the same time, the platform offers additional functionalities for existing RFID installations. Smartmove collects data from RFID readers and uses intelligent filters to prepare it so that it can be easily transferred to higher-level systems, such as a warehouse management system. The data telegrams can be reduced to the relevant information. One advantage is that the integration time for new RFID applications can be reduced to two days. During operation, data processing is faster and more targeted. Smartmove can be used both as a standalone platform and with several networked reading stations. These interact with each other through swarm intelligence and continuously optimise filter quality and thus reading results. As with AI Gate, the RFID Consortium also uses artificial intelligence in Smartmove to evaluate material flows and improve process quality in logistics. The aim is to minimise throughput times and reduce the workload on specialist staff. With Smartmove, the company is consistently continuing the strategic focus on less complex but highly functional RFID solutions that began in 2025 with the launch of its AI Gate.

For first-time users and RFID pioneers

Under the motto ‘RFID, but simple’, Smartmove is aimed at companies that want to implement, for example, their circular economy or digital product passport via RFID. To do this, they already use stationary RFID reading stations that transfer data to downstream systems. This data needs to flow quickly and, above all, to the right place – an added value that Smartmove offers.

‘RFID has a reputation for being complex, difficult and expensive. With Smartmove, we are showing that the opposite is true. RFID is simple. We take the complexity out of it for the IT team. RFID becomes a relief rather than a burden,’ explains Thomas Heijnen, Sales and Marketing Management at the RFID Consortium.

Smartmove was also designed for companies that have been using RFID hardware for many years. A large number of proprietary software solutions on mobile and stationary readers are no longer up to date. With Smartmove, even older RFID infrastructure can be quickly integrated. Users benefit from the latest standards, remote monitoring and the ability to make configurations and enhancements themselves. Existing reader models can continue to be used. Smartmove is hardware-independent and can be installed on different clients, such as Impinj or Kathrein, with identical configurations to promote reuse of the devices.

Saas, self-service and EU RED compliance

The concept of ‘RFID, but simple’ encompasses centralised monitoring of the entire RFID infrastructure as well as configuration and management via an intuitive user interface. The training required for IT specialists remains minimal. Smartmove is also available as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS). Clients can be configured, updated and monitored remotely. In view of the EU’s ‘RED Compliance’ requirements, RFID hardware manufacturers must ensure updates. Smartmove is designed to adapt to the manufacturers’ update cycles. Firmware updates of the readers therefore do not lead to process failures. As a platform, Smartmove ensures process reliability through continuous updates, in contrast to proprietary software. Firmware updates and further developments of Smartmove are rolled out centrally, similar to Android smartphone updates. Users thus continuously benefit from the latest version, maintenance and support at a low entry price.

Live demo and partner network at LogiMAT

‘Smartmove has been developed with practical applications in mind and is designed to meet real-world requirements in the field, as it records exactly the data that is needed and passes it on in a targeted manner without any effort. Even before its official market launch, the platform has already proven itself with several existing customers,’ explains Dominik Steickert, Head of Development at the RFID Consortium. ‘For one retail customer, we connected Smartmove to an RFID tunnel and 12 picking and packing stations. Including training, commissioning took only three days.’

Visitors to the trade fair can experience Smartmove live at the stand at LogiMAT. In addition, the company will be presenting the new platform to its partner network of hardware manufacturers.

About RFID Konsortium

The system integrator from Friedberg in Hesse has been developing and implementing Auto-ID solutions for medium-sized and large customers in Germany and abroad since 2008. To date, its references include over 100 companies from various industries. With the nine RF KonSys modules, RFID Konsortium offers freely combinable building blocks for optimizing intralogistics processes such as track & trace, incoming/outgoing goods, storage, inventory, picking, delivery, quality assurance, maintenance & servicing and replenishment control. The aim is to map processes error-free, at a reasonable cost and with a fast return on investment (ROI). Stationary, mobile and AI gate solutions are added to the portfolio with outgoing goods gate solutions. Customers decide to use RFID in order to digitize processes and thus operate more efficiently and competitively on the market. RFID Konsortium provides a holistic approach from a single source: from process consulting to a six-phase project implementation (“RF KonSys strategy”) and connection to internal IT systems. Depending on the customer scenario, high-quality readers, transponders, printers and mobile devices from well-known manufacturers are used for the hardware.
